1971 Volkswagen Type 2 Bus
1971 Type 2 Volkswagen Bus with foldout bed, propane stove, and Dormobile Pop-up Camper conversion.
Purchased in Germany, modified in England by Dormobile, the bus was shipped to the U.S. and spent time in Portland Oregon and Honolulu Hawaii before being shipped back to the mainland in 2007.
In Venice California, between 2007 and 2016, the bus underwent extensive mechanical improvements to brakes, suspension, transmission and motor.
The current owner purchased the "Dormo" on August 12th in Venice with the intention of driving to Oregon to see the eclipse and then crossing the country (in style) back to Massachusetts. The trip up the California coast and the Oregon-to-Massachusetts miles added up to 5,616---and during those miles the Dormo never skipped a beat. Mountains, deserts, badlands no problem.
