SOLD SOLD SOLD This recently SOLD SOLD SOLD 1966 Pontiac GTO Resto-Mod features a 449 cubic inch stroker motor and is being offered for sale for $58,000.00 OR BEST OFFER. This frame off restoration took over 5000 man hours to complete. This isn't your traditional restoration that brings a car back to what it was 50 years ago. This restoration brought this car back to better than it ever was. She is safer and faster than she ever was. She handles and rides better than she ever did.
She is better protected from rust then she ever was. She is just plain better in every way than she was when Pontiac built her 51 years ago. The frame off restoration started by completely disassembling the entire vehicle. Every last nut and bolt was disassembled, any rust was removed from the parts and before they were reassembled, the parts were treated to prevent rust from coming back. The chassis was sandblasted and treated with 4 coats of POR15 outside and frame cavity sealer inside before being reassembled. Up front youll find tubular upper and lower front control arms, new spindles, all new steering linkage, new tie rod ends, an oversize sway bar and 13 inch power disk brakes.
A duel stage master cylinder with proportioning valve and a duel diaphragm power booster replace the original none power, single stage master cylinder. Out back the original 10 bolt rear end was fitted with a Powertrax Locking differential new axle bearings and seals and 12 inch power disc brakes. All the brake lines, as well as the fuel lines, are stainless steel. The rear control arms have been boxed to prevent them from flexing under hard acceleration and fitted with new Delrin bushings. The engine has been bored and stroked from 389 to 449 cubic inches. A Comp Cams "Thumper" cam kit has been installed.
The heads have been completely rebuilt with hardened seats and new guides. The rocker arm studs have been pinned and the new Stainless Steel valves are controlled by Comp Cam springs. It has Ross Racing pistons with H beam rods connected to an Eagle Stroker crank. All engine parts were specked out by Butler Brothers Racing. This Beast is fed by an Edelbrock Performer 850 CFM carburetor which sits atop an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold. The 9 to 1 compression ratio makes it possible to run on premium pump gas. It has Summit Racing ceramic coated long tube headers and a Pypes 3 inch Stainless Steel exhaust system. An Eagle aluminum radiator keeps everything nice and cool on the hottest days.
The body was soda blasted and all rusted sheet metal was replaced before it too was coated with POR15 to prevent future rust from forming. All new rubber body mounts were installed when the body was reunited with the frame. The car was primed and block sanded many times until a laser straight finish was achieved on every panel. She then received a 2 part polyurethane base coat clear coat paint job in a breath taking gray pearl with satin clear. The split grills, the insides of the rear sail panels and the tail panel are finished in satin black as are the window moldings. To give the car a 21st century look, the front and rear bumpers were painted grey pearl satin to match the body. Before being painted all the mounting hardware was welded in place and the holes were filled and worked smooth.
All of the rubber seals around the doors, trunk and windows as well as the window run channels are new as is every piece of the interior upholstery from the sun visors and head liner to the padding under the carpet. Inside there is a Vintage Air heating and air conditioning unit that will keep the inertia cool on the hottest summer days and, should you venture out, cozy on those cold winter nights. There is also a Kenwood stereo with 4 speakers to provide music should you find a need for something other than the beautiful roar of the engine. Instrumentation is provided by a full set of Dakota Digital VHX analog gauges mounted in a custom made black wood grain dash panel. To give the trunk a finished look worthy of the rest of the car, panels were made and covered in a heavy charcoal colored felt material, the trunk floor is also covered in the same heavy material.
This sinister looking one of a kind head turning performer handles as good as she looks and should be sitting in your driveway waiting for you to take her out for some excitement!
